Government Funding at Little Wellies Day Nursery–April 2025
At Little Wellies we make it easy for families to access government-funded hours while ensuring our approachremains sustainable, high-quality, and future-focused
Funding for 3 & 4 Year Olds
All children are eligible for 15 universal hours (term-time) from the term after their 3rd birthday. Cut-off dates: 31 March, 31 August, 31 December.
You may be eligible for 30 extended hours if both parents earn the equivalent of 16+ hours/week at minimum wage and less than £100,000/year. This is the same criteria used for Tax-Free Childcare (TFC).
As we operate all year round, we offer a Stretched Offer for all year round children:
- 15 hours = 12hours/week
- 30 hours = 24 hours/week
Funding for 9 Months+ and 2 Year Olds (Working Families)
15 funded hours (term-time) = 12 hours/week with our stretched model.
The same eligibility applies: both parents working 16+ hrs/week at NMW and under £100k/year.
Funding is not universal — you must apply.

Additional Charges
While we provide the funded hours at no cost, it's important to note that government funding only covers basic childcare. At Little Wellies, we are not in the business of offering basic childcare.
Our ethos is centred around providing a rich, creative, and high-quality environment — something far beyond the minimum standard. To make this possible, we apply additional charges to funded sessions, as the funding does not cover:
Meals, kitchen & chef
Resources & consumables
Famly App access
Trips around the farm
Forest School
Tractor and Trailer rides
These are the additional charges:

These contributions support the special, nurturing experience we are proud to offer every child at Little Wellies however these charges are optional should you not want access to the benefits above.
